Wizarding & Witchcraft schools
When they reach the age of Eleven, wizards join a school of magic, depending on where they are on the Globe.
They follow a seven-year course of study until they are considered ‘adults’ and able to live in the Wizarding World.
There are more than a dozen schools around the world, but some are considered to be the most important.
Hogwarts
Hogwarts is the school where Britain's wizards study.
It was founded over a thousand years ago by four great wizards:
- Godric Gryffindor, who wanted to educate the bravest.
- Helga, a Hufflepuff, who believed that justice was the noblest virtue.
- Rowena Slytherin, who defended intellect as the most useful thing in a wizard.
- Salazar Slytherin, for whom ambition was everything.
The school is located in the north of Scotland in a sparsely populated area and appears to Muggles as an old ruin.
Wizards, on the other hand, will discover a castle with several towers, surrounded by a forest full of all kinds of creatures and a lake in which a giant squid lives.
